When Malek Young decommitted from Georgia, most thought he could be a Miami target. Once Mark Richt was hired by the Hurricanes, most considered it a matter of time until Young committed to Miami. Those thoughts were proven true on Friday afternoon.

Coconut Creek three-star CB Malek Young today becomes first Ga. commit to flip to UM since Richt's hiring.— Barry Jackson (@flasportsbuzz) January 15, 2016
A top player who has been on the radar of P5 schools for years, Coconut Creek ATH Malek Young is the latest player to join the Miami Hurricanes 2016 recruiting class. From May 2013:
Young is a top talent who will play at a position of need for the Hurricanes: Cornerback.
This commitment comes as somewhat of a surprise, but relative to timing only. Most who follow recruiting had a good and reasonable expectation that Young would commit, but I, like most, thought that would happen next week when Young takes his official visit to Coral Gables. However, after canceling this week's previous-scheduled visit to Clemson, Young felt that now was as good a time as ever to announce his commitment.
Miami is still after other players at this position (and many others), but Young is a very good player whose future at Miami will be very bright. To see what kind of athlete Young is, you can view his HUDL highlights below:
