Conference members are moving closer to the ACC Championship Game. North Carolina maintained its lead in the Coastal Division with a strong 35-14 win over Virginia and Louisville demolished an N.C. State squad, 54-13, that gave Atlantic Division leader Clemson all they could handle the week before.

While several teams were on a bye this past weekend, major conference showdowns are on tap for Saturday. Before we get to the rankings, and those big games that State of the U will preview later in the week, let’s recap last weekend’s ACC happenings.

Mitch Trubisky was lethal in North Carolina’s 35-14 victory over the Virginia Cavaliers. Trubisky finished 24 of 31 passing for 310 yards and 3 touchdowns. Tar Heels running back Elijah Hood is coming back strong following his recent injury. Hood ran for 107 yards on 16 carries and had a rushing score.

Virginia Tech bested the Hurricanes, 37-16, on Thursday night to keep their hopes of winning the Coastal Division alive.

Louisville pummeled N.C. State, 54-13, keeping their hopes of winning the Atlantic Division, or possibly reaching the playoffs, alive. Lamar Jackson was ridiculous again, throwing for 355 yards and 3 touchdowns, and rushing for another 76 yards and a score.

Syracuse edged out Boston College, 28-20, in a tense battle within the Atlantic Division.

Those are your quick-hitters from around the ACC. Now, let’s see how this past weekend’s results impacted the ACC Power Rankings.
