Just a quick one here, but 4-star ATH Chris Henderson has decommitted from Miami.
— Chris Henderson Jr. (@HendersonChris_) October 3, 2016
This was rumored to be a possibility in recent weeks. Henderson, however, maintained he was “solidly committed” to Miami in multiple recent interviews. That proved to be a smokescreen and Henderson dropped just minutes ago.
Henderson is a supreme athlete with great speed. While he plays RB on his HS team, Miami — and many other schools — see his future on defense.
Losing Henderson from this class is a hit for Miami, but not one that’s unrecoverable. There are many players at DB both locally in South Florida, and around the State of Florida/Country that Miami can make a move on to fill this spot.
Leading the way early for this replacement in my mind is Miramar (FL) 3-star CB Kaheem Roach. The Louisville commit has size, athleticism, and skill, and could be a nice player at Miami. His teammate Brian Edwards is committed to Miami, so that could work in the Canes’ favor should they try to flip Roach.
Outside of Roach, other options for this spot will become known in the coming days and weeks.
