Miami Hurricanes Football: Harris Named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week

Under the previous regime, Trent Harris was a jack of all trades, playing the defensive line and multiple linebacker spots.

This season he is a full time DE.

That change is working out just fine.

The junior DE was honored today by the ACC, as the Conference’s D lineman of the week.

You can see his impact below, on of two defensive TD’s the ‘Canes scored in their 35-21 victory this weekend at Georgia Tech.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami junior linebacker Trent Harris was named Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week on Monday, as announced by the league office.

Harris is the second Hurricane to be recognized with a weekly honor this season by the ACC. Freshman wide receiver Ahmmon Richards was selected as the ACC’s Co-Rookie of the Week earlier this year.

The Winter Park, Fla., native did a little bit of everything for the Hurricanes in their 35-21 victory over Georgia Tech as he tied a career high with 7.0 tackles. His 6.0 solo tackles were a career high.

Harris also posted career-high totals in sacks (2.0) and tackles for loss (3.0). In addition, Harris’ first career forced fumble led to a scoop and score by linebacker Shaquille Quarterman.
