Another Monday, another installment of News and Notes. Let’s get to it.
Canes keep rolling, beat Virginia 34-14
A solid 20 point win on the road, in a place where the Canes hadn’t won since 2008. Yeah, that’ll work for me. Miami has now won their last 2 games, and with 2 games left in the regular season, Miami looks to run the win streak to 4 games and finish 8-4 on the year.
Before we look ahead to the remaining games on the schedule, let’s take a look back at the game that was won on Saturday.
I had your Game Recap.
Jerry Steinberg was back with another installment of the beloved series The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
I had your 2nd installment of 3 stars from the Virginia Game.
Justin Dottavio aka Ironman Football took a look at the X’s and O’s of the Canes’ 20 point win.
Jerry also had your Sunday news, notes, and quotes.
And, as usual, the ACC Digital Network had your game highlights.
This is what Miami should have done in this game. Virginia is a bad team and Miami had the advantage at literally every position. A 20 point win was just what should have happened, and I’m glad it did.
Up next: at North Carolina State (5-5, 2-4 ACC)
Another ACC game, this time our 2nd game vs an Atlantic Division team. Miami will travel to Carter-Finley Stadium to face the Wolfpack of North Carolina State. The Wolfpack enter this game after having beaten Syracuse 35-20 on Saturday to even their record at 5-5 on the year.
NC State has had some close games this year. They lost 24-17 in OT to Clemson. They lost 21-14 to Boston College. They lost 24-20 to Florida State. This is a team that plays good run defense, and is just talented enough on offense to cause teams problems. To me, this is the toughest remaining game of the year.
#Canes open as 2.5 pt favorites on the road vs NCState this week per Vegas Insider.

A 2.5 pt line means that Miami would be 5.5 points better than NCState on a neutral field. So, a little less than a TD. Seems reasonable to me.
Wondering when and how to watch this week’s game? Got you covered.

We’ll talk more about this game throughout the week, I’m sure, but this is a game that Miami needs to win to keep momentum going, and to put us in position for the best bowl game possible (another topic for another time).
Quick Hitters
2 minute drill time. Let’s get moving:
SBNation Analytics guru Bill Connelly’s new S&P+ ratings have the Canes 19th. They rose slightly from 22nd last week.
Canes Hoops started the year with a 92-43 win over Western Carolina. Josh Kaufman had your recap of that game.
Miami had a nice day running the ball on Saturday, thanks in large part to the Offensive Line.. Christy Cabrera-Chirinos of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel detailed that performance, and also wrote about Mark Richt’s hope that that will be able to continue.
Jason Kirk from SBNation has a new set of Bowl Projections. This week? Miami vs West Virginia in the Russel Athletic Bowl.
Matt Porter of the Palm Beach Post had a few recruiting tidbits for your reading pleasure, and also recapped Miami-Uva with 5 things we learned.
Susan Miller Degnan of the Miami Herald had this ode to the Offensive Line in her game recap from Miami-Virginia, as well.
That’s all I’ve got, guys.
Have a great Monday.
