Miami Hurricanes open as 14 point favorites over Duke Blue Devils for Senior Day

NCAA Football: Miami at North Carolina State Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Hurricanes are looking to close out the 2016 season with a 4th straight win as they face the Duke Blue Devils next Saturday afternoon.

Miami has won the last 2 games against Duke, wit the 2016 game highlighted by The Return. Yeah, I’m embedding the video again. You know you love it.

Miami and Duke have faced off in football 13 times. Miami has won 11 of those games, only losing in 1976 and 2013.

Duke is mired in a 4-7 season, and need to hope for a win to have an outside chance at a bowl game (5-7 teams awarded bowl slots based on APR). After being blown out by Pitt 56-14 last week, and with Miami have a 27-13 win on the road against a tough NC State team, the opening line for this game is about as lopsided as one would reasonably expect.

Using the transitive property isn’t always the best model for evaluating teams, but Duke just lost by 42 points to a Pitt team Miami beat by 23. So, if everything plays out in a similar fashion — Duke doesn’t play over their head and Miami continues their steady play — this game shouldn’t be competitive for more than a half.

Miami and Duke will face off at 3:30pm on Saturday afternoon. Click the link below for all the How To Watch details:
