Miami Hurricanes News and Notes: Canes beat Duke; Yearby leaving?; Bowl Projections

Your daily digest of Miami Hurricanes news for November 28th

NCAA Football: Duke at Miami Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Put another W on the board! Miami extended their winning streak to 4 games over the weekend with a solid win on Senior Night. All that and more in today’s News and Notes. Let’s get it.

Canes extend win streak to 4, beat Duke 40-21 on Senior Night

Another week, another win. Miami (8-4, 5-3 ACC) handled Duke (4-8, 1-7 ACC) with relative ease on Saturday afternoon for Senior Night. There was plenty to celebrate from the win, so here goes.

I had your game recap.

I also wrote a quick piece about QB Brad Kaaya breaking Ken Dorsey’s record for most passing yards in a career for the Miami Hurricanes. In less than 3 years!

Jerry Steinberg was back in action with his classic series The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly from the Duke Game.

I had your 3 stars from the Duke Game. Honorable mention section had several guys who could have been the #3 star. Great performances from several Canes.

Justin Dottavio aka Ironman Football examined the X’s and O’s of Miami’s win over Duke to close out the regular season.

And here are your game highlights from the ACC Digital Network.

Up Next: a Bowl Game

Yeah, I usually put the next opponent here on Mondays, but with the season winding down, there isn’t a definite team to focus on. We can, however, focus on the fact that Miami is going bowling yet again.

On Sunday, I wrote this piece about Bowl Placements and Projections. You should check it out:

My #1 choice: The TaxSlayer Bowl in Jacksonville, FL on New Year’s Eve. That’s the game we’ve been most often projected to play in, and we could face Georgia (yes), Tennessee (Yes), or Florida (HELL YES) in that game.

We should know Miami’s bowl placement shortly after Conference Championships next week. So, hypothesize away, guys!

Per Reports, RB Joseph Yearby to enter 2017 NFL Draft

I’ll keep this short, but multiple reports on Sunday have junior RB Joseph Yearby foregoing his senior year to enter the 2017 NFL Draft.

Yearby, who has run for more than 2,000 yards in his collegiate career, has 2 young children, and that is the main factor in his reported decision. Obviously, family comes first, and I wish Joe a successful Bowl Game and a long, healthy, productive NFL career, should he choose to leave school.

Quick Hitters

No huddle, no mercy.

SBNation Analytics guru Bill Connelly’s new S&P+ ratings have the Canes 17th. They rose slightly from 19th last week.

Susan Miller Degnan of the Miami Herald wrote about Brad Kaaya and David Njoku’s upcoming decision

Peter Ariz had this piece in the Miami Herald about Miami’s defense getting punched in the face and bouncing back to beat Duke.

Matt Porter of the Palm Beach Post had this video recap of the 40-21 win over Duke.

Porter also had this piece about Kaaya and Njoku and their pending NFL Draft decision.

Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post had this game recap from Saturday.

Dave Hyde of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel also took a look at Kaaya and Njoku’s NFL decision.

Christy Cabrera-Chirinos of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel had this piece about Miami’s defense, which rebounded well against Duke.

David Perez had this piece recapping Canes Hoops’ loss to Florida in the 3rd place game of the AdvoCare tournament in Orlando.

That’s it for today guys.
