The ACC football regular season is officially complete. Clemson remains atop the Atlantic Division via ACC tiebreaker rules and Virginia Tech has won the Coastal Division outright. The two division winners will meet in the Dr. Pepper ACC Championship Game on Saturday, December 3 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. As always, before we get to the final regular season ACC Power Rankings, let’s recap last week’s happenings.
N.C. State and the North Carolina Tar Heels squared off in their annual rivalry game on Friday. The Wolfpack came out swinging, running a trick play for a touchdown on their first drive of the game. While tensions were high, a bench-clearing brawl resulted in a Tar Heel being ejected, the Wolfpack prevailed, earning bowl eligibility and winning 28-21 in Chapel Hill.
Clemson steamrolled over rival South Carolina. Deshaun Watson threw for 347 yards and 6 touchdowns on 26 of 32 passing en route to the Tigers’ 56-7 victory.
Louisville enters the post-season on a two-game skid. Kentucky knocked off the Cardinals on a 47-yard field goal with only 12 seconds remaining, winning the Governor’s Cup 41-38.
Florida State topped rival Florida with a 31-13 win in Tallahassee. Dalvin Cook ran for 153 yards and one touchdown on 26 carries against the Gators.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets bested in-state rival Georgia, 28-27, in Athens. The Yellow Jackets rallied in the fourth quarter, scoring two touchdowns and taking the lead with 30 seconds remaining.
Virginia Tech pummeled the Virginia Cavaliers, 52-10. The Hokies defense held Virginia to just 247 total yards of offense and forced three turnovers.
Pittsburgh won in a shootout against Syracuse, 76-61. The two teams combined for 1,312 total yards and 137 points and we’re still not entirely sure this wasn’t a basketball game.
Boston College beat Wake Forest, 17-14, to reach bowl eligibility.
The Hurricanes had a strong second-half showing against the Duke Blue Devils, winning 40-21 at Hard Rock Stadium.
Those are your quick-hitters from around the ACC. Now, let’s see how this past weekend’s results impacted the ACC Power Rankings.
