Miami on center stage: Central Michigan vs Tulsa, 2016 Miami Beach Bowl: Time, live stream, TV schedule, and how to watch

The old site of the Orange Bowl hosts mid-day football with the Miami Beach Bowl

WELCOME TO LITTLE HAVANA!!!!

On the site that once housed the Orange Bowl, Marlins Park will host the 2016 Miami Beach Bowl today. This is a game that is played in Miami, but rest assured that Little Havana — the neighborhood that houses Marlins Park — is not a by-the-beach locale. But hey, Northern teams and their fans get a trip to Miami in mid-December.

This year’s game features the 9-3 Tulsa Golden Hurricane (oh so close to a great nickname, they are) and the 6-6 Central Michigan Chippewas. As I’m sure you know, I’m from Michigan, and I’ve been to Mount Pleasant — the home of Central Michigan University — many times. While MP is a nice party town, I’m sure my fellow Michiganders, and the Oklahomans who will be supporting Tulsa, will enjoy their trip down to South Florida.

Why does the name Central Michigan stick out in your brain? Probably because of this play, which gave the Chippewas a win at Oklahoma State (which referees subsequently said shouldn’t have happened)

Tulsa has a high powered offense, and could achieve an impressive record in the bowl game.

While the Miami Beach Bowl is the only Bowl Game on today, it’s not the only game on this week. Here’s how you can watch all the college football on TV for the next few days leading up to Christmas Day:
