4-star CB Tyler Byrd flips from Miami, commits to Tennessee

Miami's first real loss in the 2016 recruiting class is a big one.

The Miami Hurricanes lost arguably the top commit in the 2016 class today when 4-tar CB Tyler Byrd flipped his commitment away from the Canes to the Tennessee Volunteers.

Byrd, a standout from Naples HS, had been linked with Tennessee in recent weeks and days. The combination of great visit to Tennessee last weekend, plus former UM coach Larry Scott (Byrd's lead recruiter when he worked at Miami), and RB commit Carlin Fils-Aime, the defacto brother that Byrd has lived with since 8th grade, was simply too much for Miami to overcome.

In the aftermath, Miami is now down one of the top players in this class. Byrd would have played from day 1 in Miami, and is sure to do the samme in Tennessee.

And, after getting some momentum yesterday with 2 commits, Miami is left trying to find a replacement for Byrd in this class, no easy task with National Signing Day just a day away.

I'm not one to over react to recruiting moves, especially after just having closed on Romeo Finley, but I'd be lying if I said this one didn't hurt.

More on this later.
