Miami Hurricanes Football 2016 Player Profile: Darrell Langham

In an effort to keep even the most hardcore Miami fan up to date on their favorite players, SOTU will be running a Player Profile series. In these posts, our writers will profile players from each position that they think should get more face time. They will recap their previous year, or in some cases, preview what may be to come. That way, when the season get's here, you hopefully will have a new found love for the team on the field.

Darrell Langham

WR - 6'4 236 RS Sophomore - Lantana, Fl

Has yet to record his first career catch, but with UM's relative lack of experience and depth at WR, could see a larger role this coming season.

Was a starter during this year's Spring Game and did have one reception for 27 yards.

Has excellent size and good hands, the real question is can he create consistent separation at this level?

Summary: Langham should get some PT this season. But will he be good enough to hold off guys like JUCO transfer Dayall Harris, and incoming freshmen Sam Bruce, Ahmmon Richards, and Dionte Mullins come fall?  Time will tell. Given his size and Mark Richt's desire to run the ball, his blocking could be the key to more snaps. Coach Richt asked both Langham and Lawrence Cager to "play bigger" this spring. And by all accounts both made improvements.  But for now, Langham seems more like a depth player at a position that sorely needs it. He runs well, and again has the prerequisite size you want in a larger target, but still has yet to distinguish himself. Nonetheless it would not surprise me to see the Santaluces H.S. product haul in around 10 catches this season.
