Just last week, our Blain Bradley spoke with former Alabama CB Maurice Smith about his transfer plans. Smith told Bradley that Miami was heavily involved in this interaction, which was good news for Miami.
Today, another layer was added to this story when a writer for the website TouchdownAlabama posted an article regarding Smith and his transfer plans.

Per the above report, Smith is nearing a commitment and move to Miami. After having graduated in 3 years, Smith would be immediately eligible to play for the Hurricanes (or any other team) in 2016.
With a need to game-ready players in the secondary, this would be a major step in the right direction for Miami. Smith has the talent to be a contributor from day 1, and would be the 2nd grad transfer into Miami's secondary this offseason, joining former Texas DB Adrian Colbert.
Obviously, Miami has been trending up for Smith in the weeks following the announcement of his transfer from Alabama, and if things hold form, he should be wearing Orange and Green sooner rather than later.
