Miami Baseball's Zack Collins Picked 10th Overall by Chicago White Sox

Steven Branscombe-USA TODAY Sports

Power hitting catcher Zack Collins of the Miami Hurricanes has a bright future ahead.

Tonight the UM backstop got huge news, as he was selected with the 10th pick of the MLB Amateur Draft by the Chicago White Sox.

For Collins, it is a dream come true.

But the superstar who has been credited with homeruns as monumental as 450 feet, is a modest kid.

"I think I've gotten so caught up in the draft and making it to the big leagues that I haven't realized how much really I've accomplished. And everybody on this team, whether you're a first-rounder or not drafted, the fact you get to put on a University of Miami uniform, that itself, is a huge honor. It's going to mean a lot to get that call. It's going to be a crazy time and whether I get called with the first pick or the last pick, that's going to be an honor too. I don't even know how to explain it."  - Zack Collins one week prior to the draft (NCAA.COM)

At 6'3 220 pounds, with a sweet swing, and a discerning eye (2nd in the NCAA prior to the postseason in OBP),  the sky is the limit for Collins.

You can watch some of Collins power on display HERE.

In the near future, you'll be able to see him in an MLB park near you.

Congratulations and Good Luck Zack!

Hopefully he has a few more big dingers and clutch hits in him in the coming weeks as he helps the 'Canes make a run to Omaha.

Much more on this story in the coming days.
