WR Sam Bruce is facing a suspension to begin his Canes career, per report.

One of the most coveted players in the 2016 recruiting class, 4-star WR Sam Bruce is a player with loads of talent and the ability to come in and play right away at the college level. That early playing time may be mitigated, as there is a report that Bruce may be facing suspension to open the 2016 season.

According to the report by Peter Ariz and Barry Jackson for the Miami Herald, Bruce could be facing discipline based on events in the spring. Bruce was pictured holding a gun, and that picture was the center of an altercation with another individual. The details are in the above report, and we also had a piece on this event, which led to Bruce withdrawing from St. Thomas Aquinas

As far as what this means for the 2016 season, Bruce would obviously not be able to get game experience in the first game or two. Bruce has a high level of talent and athleticism, something the WR corps desperately needs. He can catch the ball, run the ball, and be a factor in the return game. His multifaceted game should be put to good use in Coral Gables once he's able to hit the field.

A move to suspend  Bruce would definitely send a message that actions have consequences. Mark Richt is known for being a strict but fair disciplinarian, and this move would be another piece of evidence to that effect. Obviously, having transferred from St. Thomas Aquinas due to the above detailed event, Bruce has had some consequences. But, to really prove the point, Richt may choose to suspend the talented receiver and use this as a learning experience.

It's not the way that Bruce wants to start his collegiate career, but a 2 game suspension isn't the worst thing in the world.

More on this as it's available.
