It's everybody's favorite time of year: WATCH LIST SEASON!!!!

Today, QB Brad Kaaya and RB Joseph Yearby were named to the 2016 Maxwell Award watch list. Here are some facts about the Maxwell award direct from the Maxwell Football Club website:

College Player of the Year

Each year the Maxwell Football Club presents the Maxwell Award for the College Player of the Year. This award is presented in honor of Robert W. (Tiny) Maxwell, legendary college player, official and sports columnist.

Who Votes?

Voters for the Maxwell College Awards are NCAA Head College Football Coaches, members of the Maxwell Football Club & sportswriters and sportscasters from across the country

Already one of the objectively and subjectively best QBs in America, Kaaya is one of 90 players on the initial watch list for the Maxwell Award. And, coming off the first 1,000 yard season for a Canes RB in several years, Joseph Yearby joins Kaaya on this award watchlist.

This award, given to the College Football Player of the Year, has been distributed since 1937, with Alabama RB Derrick Henry having been the most recent recipient.

Miami has had players win the Maxwell award in the past. QB Vinny Testaverde won the award in 1986, QB Gino Torretta won the award in 1992, and QB Ken Dorsey won the award in 2001. Testaverde and Torretta also won the Heisman Trophy in the seasons that they won the Maxwell.

This is a good start for both Kaaya and Yearby. They are on a National award watchlist, and hopefully they will see their profile rise throughout  a successful 2016 season.
