Coach Richt addressed the media this afternoon in preparation for a fired up Appalachian State program.
He began by calling App State an “excellent team”, and pointed out that they played hard and disciplined.
- On his team’s rushing attack,
Coach said the team was “blocking with effort and a little bit of nasty in us.” Richt continued, “Our backs are certainly making some people miss. It’s going to get tougher and tougher as we go, starting this week.”
- Coach was extremely respectful of this week’s opponent,
“They have all the characteristics of a winning team. It’s going to be a bloody war.”
- On Brad Kaaya and his development:
“We’re not worried about the NFL. We are just worried about running our system and doing things to win games, and he is doing that.”
Richt also credited Kaaya with getting UM in the right plays to help their running game.
- On the team’s first road test:
“It’s going to be a huge test. No doubt. A lot of these players that have been around for a while have gone on the road before, but we haven’t done before together. Now all of a sudden we are traveling. Now we are playing at noon. But the bottom line we have to create good habits so that we can perform when it matters the most.”
- On the two headed monster attack of Joe Yearby and Mark Walton:
“We have no preconceived idea that one guy does one thing better than the other. They are both complete backs.”
- Richt’s three keys for Saturday:
“No turnovers, no missed assignments, and we got to get after them.”
In other news:
Excellent read. Miami is going to need Owens with their LB corps being so decimated.
Darrion Owens, quite thankful to be back on the field after last year's serious knee injury. https://t.co/FnHEhcODqG

No one can deny the difference Coach Kool is making. This is no surprise:
Miami’s Craig Kuligowski named @coachingsearch’s DL Coach of the Week after 7 sacks vs. FAU. https://t.co/LZoVLa6XQI
