Happy taco Tuesday, Canes fans! Here’s your news and notes to start the day.

2017 UM Sports Hall of Fame Class Announced

On Monday afternoon, the University of Miami announced the 2017 inductees to the UM Sports Hall of Fame.

Players like Jeremy Shockey and James Jackson and Ryan Braun and Women’s Basketball coach Katie Meier (apologies for the typo in the above tweet) headline the list of 9 inductees for 2017.

With so many great athletes and coaches in the past, present, and future, being nominated for and inducted into the UM Sports Hall of Fame is among the biggest honors that one could receive.

The 2017 UM Sports Hall of Fame inductees will be honored at the end of the 1st Q of the October 15th home game against North Carolina. The official induction ceremony will be held in April 2017.

Congratulations to the new UM Sports Hall of Famers! Bravo one and all!

HSFB Coach: “N’Kosi Perry is like Usain Bolt”

Man, talk about high praise. Last week, Canes QB commit N’Kosi Perry broke 20 year old records for passing yards and TDs at his HS, Ocala (FL) Vanguard, set by former Mr. Football, UCF, and NFL QB Daunte Culpepper. Perry broke Culpepper’s records 3 games into his senior year. So yeah, that’s pretty decent.

Now, Perry, Florida’s reigning 6A Player of the Year, has been compared to another transcendent athlete: 9-time Olympic Gold Medalist Usain Bolt.

After leading his team to a 20-7 win over Gainesville (FL) Buchholz, Perry was compared to the standout sprinter by Buchholz’s coach, Mark Whitemore. And I quote:

“You can't give N'Kosi as many possessions as we did tonight. He's like Usain Bolt back there running around. It's a matter of time before he does something”

Talk about high praise. Perry may have run around some, but his arm is what won Vanguard the game. With 11/16 passing for nearly 200 yards and 3 scores, Perry continues to light up the scoreboard, and the record book.

Yeah, that’ll work.

Canes uniform and fan gear update

So, just wanted to pass this along, because I know who much you guys LOVE IT when I talk uniforms.

First of all, Miami announced on Monday that the one and only time the Canes will be wearing green jerseys is for this week’s game at Georgia Tech.

With the Legend of the U jerseys scheduled to be unveiled next weekend against Florida State, going to the green jerseys one time this weekend makes sense to me.

Also, if you’re interested in getting some new Legend of the U updated throwback gear, I have just the link for you:

Ok now that you guys have that link too, let me go get what I need to get before you buy it all up.

5-star guard visiting Canes Hoops soon?

Per our own Charlie Strauzer, 5-star 2018 point guard Immanuel Quickley (Bel Air, MD) will be taking an unofficial visit to Miami next weekend. This, of course, coincides with the Miami-FSU football game. Already the biggest recruiting weekend of the year for football, basketball may reap some positive benefits as well.

Coach Larrañaga has done well in recruiting in recent years, bringing in several 4-star and 5-star players to the Canes Hoops roster. Adding a talent of Quickley’s caliber — he’s a consensus top-20 player in his class — would be another major win for the Hurricanes Basketball program.

Want to know what all the hype with Quickley is about? Feast your eyes on the highlight below:
