Just playing point guard today, passing along the Canes news you need to start your work week.
Canes demolish FAMU, a retrospective.
Miami opened the Mark Richt era with a sound 70-3 drubbing of FAMU. Featuring 4 true freshmen starting, and an FBS-high 373 yards rushing, there was plenty to discuss and dissect following the game.
Jerry looked at many things in the initial installment of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
I had your game recap.
Scott Salomon was on the line for Coach Richt’s day-after teleconference, where coach had high praise for his freshmen.
Mike Grunewald had a Monday post-mortem that’s always worth a read.
SOTU Photographer had the first of 2 photo galleries from the game. (The other is coming in the next day or 2)
ACCDN has your game highlights
David Perez enjoyed the win, but wanted to remind you that Miami will see a different caliber of opponent this week (and for the rest of the season).
And Craig T. Smith took a wide range look at the landscape in his Monday Musings.
Lastly, I joined Mark Rogers for a video blog recapping the FAMU game and more.
It isn’t all good news, though
Bad news from the FAMU game: LB Jamie Gordinier will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. That injury is something I spoke about in the above video recap, but it leaves Miami very, VERY thin at Linebacker now.
The freshmen are going to have to bring their A game all season, and DC Manny Diaz is going to have to coach his butt off. Hopefully Darrion Owens is back soon, but for now, it’s all about the freshmen at LB for Miami.
HSFB Recap Week 2
Another week, another HSFB commit recap. This one is a bit light, though: several players had their games canceled due to Hurricane Hermine. But, those who did play did well. Click the link. You’ll see.

Quick Hitters
Brad Kaaya took to The Players Tribune to remind the world that Miami is still The U.
Speaking of Brad Kaaya, Steve Palazzolo from Pro Football Focus had this pre-season evaluation of Kaaya’s game. Great stuff, and a must read.
Our Blain Bradley had this great piece on what Kaaya’s Players Tribune piece meant to him.
FSU overcame a 21-pt deficit to defeat Ole Miss on Monday Night.
October 8th is coming soon. Can’t wait.
DC Manny Diaz was happy abouth the week 1 win, but says defense has a lot to fix according to Matt Porter of The Palm Beach Post
Trying to get ready for the NFL Season? Well then, you need to know which ProCanes are going to be playing on Sundays this year. Good thing we have just the piece for you right here.
That’s all I’ve got today. Be great out there, guys.
