Welcome back. Here are your news and notes for September 7th:
Canes ranked 25th in the AP Poll
Following the 70-3 destruction of Florida A&M, the Miami Hurricanes are ranked 25th by the Associated Press.

If you’re thinking this is the first time Miami has been ranked in a while, you’re right. According to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald, this is the first time the Canes have been ranked since November 16th, 2013, when they were 23rd.
Obviously, this is a nice achievement for a program that has not performed to the level we would have liked in recent years, but it’s an inconsequential footnote right now. There are much bigger goals for this team this year.
Oh Captain, my Captain
Miami will apparently be rotating captains on a game-by-game basis this season. Your captains for the FAU game are Braxton Berrios, Corn Elder, Rayshawn Jenkins, and Nick Linder.
On Saturday, these four men will be taking the field as captains. #BeatFAU pic.twitter.com/B4Tq3kuOB4

Mark Richt Remembers
In case you missed the memo, Mark Richt is a Miami Alum (word to Dan and Ty of the Solid Verbal. POINTS!!) Anyways, Richt played here with a lot of great QBs, several of whom had long NFL careers and one is a Hall of Famer. Richt recounted part of his time in Miami with Seth Davis on his podcast for Campus Insiders. Check it out.
What was it like being the backup QB to Jim Kelly? @MarkRicht told @SethDavisHoops.

Quick Hitters
There’s an FAU fan who says that the Owls will undoubtedly beat Miami on Saturday. So, that’s fun.
