Anyone who saw Stacy Coley’s film coming out of higschool was excited about his future. When he was an FSU commit we were scared of his potential and when he flipped we were beside ourselves with excitement. His highschool career showed speed, hands, athleticism and playmaking ability that does not come around too often. In case you forgot...

He was ranked the #44 player in the country, 10th best player in Florida and the #3 WR in the country by Yahoo 247 for the 2013 class.

Freshman

Didn’t take him long to get his career upstarted at Miami. By the 4th game he had a 4 catch for 96 yard and 2 touchdown game vs. the USF Bulls. After that he never really looked back as he would play in every game after that and record at least 2 catches in every contest. Well, except in a win a loss at Virginia Tech, in that game he had 1 catch for 81 yards and a touchdown. On the year he had 33 catches for 591 yards and 7 receievng touchdowns. Not to mention a punt return for a TD vs Duke, a kickoff return for a TD vs. Savannah State, and to not be shown up a rushing touchdown vs. Pitt. For that freshman season he was on several first and second team freshman all-American teams.

Sophomore

You often are warned about the sophomore slump but no one ever wants to believe that it is real. I can verify that, though it may not hit everyone, it is in fact real. After his freshman season Coley saw his numbers go down in every category. Not all his fault. He was breaking in a new freshaman quarterback, he couldn’t stay healthy aand it showed at times. 23 catches 184 yards and touchdowns would leave a lot to be desired going into his junior year.

Junior

After a 2 catch game to open the season against Bethune Cookman and then a couple no catch games and a DNP in the forst 4 weeks we all had our heads in our hands just hoping to recapture some of what we saw from his high school and freshmna year days. Then we went to FSU on a Saturday night and were all given a reminder of what we already knew. Stacy lit FSU up for 139 yards on 7 catches including and acrobatic diving touchdown to put the Canes up in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately we know how that game ended. he finished the year with 47 catches for 689 and 4 touchdowns. Now we wait for him to declare for the NFL draft.. He’s coming back?!? Let’s ride!!

Senior

We were all excited when he decided to come back. This a a tweet I took at the Oxbridge scrimmage where I thought I was putting in my own packages. The excitement was real. Stacy did not disappoint in his senior year. He again had his biggest game on the biggest stage posting a 2 touchdown performance vs. FSU. Not to mention being the vet in the WR room to help groom our next young phenom. He finished the year with 63 catches for 754 yards and 9 touchdowns.

Nagging injuries may have caused Stacy to not be named amongst the Canes greats at the position but he was electrifyig and he was always ALL-Canes. He put on for the city when not a lot of his peers were willing to do the same. I would just like to say thank you and wish you best at the next level. He is going to make an NFL team and their fanbase really happy come next fall.
