Ok. So, we’re back for the last week of Official Visits. Yesterday, I posted the preview for the players Miami is hosting in Coral Gables this weekend:

Now, it’s time to take a look at where Canes commits and targets are visiting that isn’t Miami this week. Let’s go.
Canes commit LB De’Andre Wilder
This speedy edge rusher LB will be visiting OREGON this week. Wilder is one of many SoFLA players to have received an Oregon offer after former USF coach Willie Taggart took over in Eugene. Oregon needs to upgrade their defense, so Wilder could be a candidate to do that. We’ll see
Nope. Wilder shut down his recruitment and will stick with Miami. Oh, and that means no visit to Oregon this weekend.
WR Jeff Thomas
This electric playmaker with gamebreaking speed isn’t scheduled to visit anywhere....yet. There has been talk that Thomas could visit Louisville or Oregon this weekend. The bright side for Miami as of now? Thomas hasn’t visited either of those schools, each being a named finalist along with the Canes. So, as I write this on a Monday, Thomas won’t be going anywhere. But, by the time Friday comes around, this might change. Stay tuned.
OL Kai-Leon Herbert
Fresh off an OV to Coral Gables and a decommitment from Michigan, OL Kai-Leon Herbert will visit FLORIDA this weekend. The Gators are the biggest (only?) competition for the Canes in pursuit of Herbert. This week’s visit could seal the deal for one of these teams in the race to get this talented 4-star OL on their respective roster.
So, that’s not happening either. Why? Herbert canceled his UF OV, shut down his recruitment, and committed to Miami on Wednesday night

CB Brian Edwards
Another player who visited Miami last weekend, Edwards will be joining Herbert and visiting FLORIDA this weekend. After reportedly “great” visits to Louisville and Miami, Edwards has publicly stated that those 2 teams have distanced themselves at the top of his recruitment. But, the spectre of a Florida offer has been in the background for Edwards for a while. Another great visit and this talented DB could have a tough 3-way decision on his hands before NSD.
WR Jordan Pouncey
A late-rising target on Miami’s recruiting board, Pouncey will visit TENNESSEE this weekend. He’s visited Miami and Texas in the last 2 weeks, and is enjoying his newfound popularity on the recruiting trail. New Tennessee OC Larry Scott — formerly Miami’s interim HC in 2015 — will make a run at getting this speedy 6’2” ATH to commit to that team up in Knoxville.
UCF commit S Tariq Carpenter
The most recent addition to Miami’s recruiting board, Carpenter will visit in-state GEORGIA TECH this weekend. Miami has yet to extend an offer to Carpenter as they wait to see what happens with current offerees such as Brian Edwards, Jhavonte Dean, and Christopher Henderson. If it looks like Miami isn’t going to offer — entirely possible with a strong close to already-offered prospects — Carpenter could easily flip from his admittedly soft commitment to UCF to GT.
That’s all I’ve got today kids.
Comment away.
