A new injury, and a couple old ones

As standard on Thursdays, the Miami Hurricanes released this week’s injury report ahead of the Syracuse Game. Here it is from Miami Athletics:

Miami Football Injury Report

Miami vs. Syracuse October 21, 2017

PROBABLE
OL Navaughn Donaldson (right lower extremity)

OUT

DB Dee Delaney (right lower extremity)

OUT FOR SEASON

WR Evidence Njoku (right lower extremity)

This release confirms yesterday’s report that freshman WR Evidence Njoku had torn his ACL and would miss the season. This piece by Stefan Adams covers that report.

Additionally, starting RG Navaughn Donaldson is now listed as probable, the best listing possible on the injury report. His return would strengthen the offensive line.

Lastly, grad transfer CB Dee Delaney is listed as out for this week. While Mark Richt said that Delaney and others were basically day to day with their injuries, this is the 2nd consecutive game that Delaney will miss. There was an ESPN report ahead of last week’s game that Delaney would be out for 6-8 weeks with a leg injury, and we’re nearly halfway to the lower boundary of that reported absence window. So, maybe ESPN was right? We’ll see if Delaney comes back next week or not.

Positives from the injury report: no mention of LB Michael Pinckney or S Sheldrick Redwine or WR Ahmmon Richards. It is my hope that all 3 return at full strength for this weekend’s game.

Not listed but still out for the season: RB Mark Walton and LB Jamie Gordinier.
