Miami Hurricanes Football: Canes are officially Bowl Eligible

Only 6 games into the season, Miami is now bowl eligible.

NCAA Football: Syracuse at Miami Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

For the 2nd year under Head Coach Mark Richt, the Miami Hurricanes are Bowl Eligible after winning their 6th game.

The difference this year, obviously, is that Miami is undefeated through 6 weeks, so the aspirations of which bowl the Canes may play in continue to rise with every passing week.

With a 15-4 record, Mark Richt has clearly surpassed the W/L record of Miami’s previous coach, whose name I am intentionally omitting from this piece.

And, before you rip me for this piece, just know there are other teams who are NOT bowl eligible, and may not get there. (Looking at you, Florida State). So be thankful for what we have. It could always be worse.

In years past, Miami has played in lower tier bowls such as the Camping World Bowl, the Sun Bowl, and others. With 6 wins already to their credit, Miami is obviously looking at a bigger bowl, and the sky is the limit for now. Say what you want, but Miami is undefeated, and bowl eligible, and will continue working to reach a Major Bowl game (New Year’s 6 or College Football Playoff) for the first time since following the 2003 season (2004 Orange Bowl).

Great stuff, but the work isn’t over. Keep grinding, guys.
