After setting career highs in catches (10) and yards (96) to go along with a TD versus Syracuse, the senior from Norcross, GA has added yet another award. Herndon was previously named the ACC receiver of the week, which we detailed — along with other Canes who were given awards — here.
As for Herndon’s new recognition, here’s the info from the John Mackey Award website:
New York, N.Y. (October 25, 2017) – The John Mackey Award has named Christopher Herndon IV of Miami as the John Mackey Tight End of the Week. The Atlantic Coast Conference senior had a huge game setting career highs with ten receptions and 96 receiving yards. He also Tied a season game career high with a touchdown catch as Miami defeated Syracuse 27-19.
I’ve been saying for a while that Herndon is the best TE in the ACC, and this award only strengthens my belief in that fact. Herndon is a dynamic athlete, and his impact on the game was huge for Miami in a big win (that shouldn’t have been as close as it was, but I digress).
