Miami will be an exciting team to watch this season. The squad returns backcourt ballers Bruce Brown and Ja’Quan Newton and added several talented freshmen.

Newton, senior guard, is a tough player. He averaged 13.5 point and 4.8 rebounds and Brown, sophomore guard, averaged 11.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

The Hurricanes will battle six ACC teams that qualified for the ACC Tournament last year. They open ACC play against the Pittsburg Panthers on Dec. 30 and play the Florida State Seminoles Jan 7. for their ACC home opener.

The ‘Canes finished in eighth place in the ACC with a 10-8 record last year, going 7-2 at home, beating North Carolina, Virginia and Duke along the way. They are projected to finish third in the ACC this season.

Miami faces a tough conference schedule away and home. They have need to bring the heat every game to make the ACC Championship.

Miami has made three NCAA tournament appearances in the past five years and Jim Larranaga will have a lot of talent on the floor again this season.

The ACC schedule paired with the non-conference schedule shapes up for a solid 2017-18 season for Miami. Stay tuned to Canes Hoops this year, the team will be fun to watch.
