Position: Center

Class: Junior

Hometown: Charlotte, NC

Height: 6’10

Weight: 231 lbs

Izundu’s role for the most part has been to be a threat under the basket during his time with the program. Being the long lanky guy he is and built pretty solid, the Hurricanes need to continue rely on 6’10 center to exceed in the rebounding game. Not only with that aspect of his game coming in handy but also his post up game. Only averaged about 4 to 5 points a game last year, this year could be Izundu’s breakout year for scoring. He has a couple of swiftly moves he can put on defenders down low to end up with a dunk or lay up, but will not be the main focus point on offense.

On the other side of the court, Izundu is a threat as well for denying shooters with that long wingspan of his. He needs to learn how to play defense without fouling in the paint. Although he only averaged about a block per game last year, there is a lot more to see out of Izundu. He looks to see more action this year as him being the leading center of this group. Ebuka Izundu should get the starting role this year for Coach Larranaga, however, there is still a lot to learn coming into the season. With the two other big guys in the program, forward Dewan Huell a 6’11 220 pound sophomore and the other center in the program Rodney Miller a 7’0 258 pound sophomore. Izundu could split time with these two.
