Miami Hurricanes Recruiting Radar: Official Visit preview, 11/10

Miami’s rolling on the field (8-0) and now they’re kicking up the recruiting with Official (and unofficial) Visits on deck this weekend

4-star QB Jarren Williams (Gwinnett, GA) headlines the visitor list for Miami this weekend

Hey there, Canes fans! I know it’s been a while, but I’m back with another Recruiting Radar, and it’s a good one.

The #7 Miami Hurricanes, undefeated at 8-0 and heading into a huge game on Saturday vs #3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, are set to host their first official visits of the 2018 recruiting cycle. Not only that, but an ELITE group of players will be at Hard Rock Stadium on unofficial visits this weekend as well. This should be a huge recruiting weekend for Miami.

With no further ado, let’s talk about who’s coming to visit this weekend:

Official Visitors

4-star QB Jarren Williams. A very talented player from Gwinnett, GA, the 6’2” 206lb Williams has been proving his worth on the field for years. He’s currently committed to Kentucky — the first P5 team to show him love back in his sophomore year of HS — but Miami, Auburn, and Ohio State are all ramping up their recruitment of Williams. An Elite 11 finalist who participated at Nike’s The Opening, Williams can throw and run, and has the skills to be a very good player at the college level.

Following the decommitment of former QB commit Artur Sitkowski, Williams was the first QB Miami coaches went to see (at his HS game, no violations, for those who will try to spin that). Of the players on the board for Miami at QB, all of which are currently committed elsewhere, Williams is the best on talent and potential. A good visit this week could give Miami traction in their pursuit of this talented player. Our SBNation sister-site A Sea of Blue said that Kentucky should be concerned about Williams’ visits, including this visit to Miami, and I agree. It’s hard to believe with the teams coming after him now that Williams ends up at Kentucky.

JUCO 3-star DT Jared Goldwire. A towering player at 6’7” 280lbs, this Louisville commit is the other player taking an official visit to Miami this weekend. With one of the best DL’s in America, Miami will showcase their scheme and playing time to Goldwire this weekend.

With the potential for Miami to lose 3 DTs from the roster this year if Kendrick Norton and RJ McIntosh declare early for the NFL Draft (and senior Anthony Moten graduating), Goldwire could step in and be an immediate rotation player for the Canes in 2018. This visit will go a long way to determining if Miami has a chance to flip Goldwire from his current commitment.

Unofficial Visitors

Williams and Goldwire are the official visitors, but the talent doesn’t stop there. Miami is scheduled to bring in an elite group of unofficial visitors from the 2018, 2019, and 2020 classes this weekend as well. What, you want a list? Of course you do. Here goes:

That’s an absolutely LOADED visitor list. It’s the best, most stacked visitor list in Mark Richt’s tenure as coach.

Miami has the stage set for a huge recruiting weekend. It will be interesting to see how Saturday’s game affects recruiting, but winning is good, and Miami’s been doing a lot of that, so things should be going in a good direction anyway.

Last thing: the standard over/under poll for a visit weekend. Vote away.
