Miami Hurricanes Football: TE Christopher Herndon IV named John Mackey Award Semi-Finalist

Miami’s Tight End is up for a National Award

On Tuesday morning, the John Mackey Award, given annually to CFB’s best Tight End, released the list of 8 semi-finalists for 2017.

Included on this 8 player list is none other than Miami Hurricanes TE Christopher Herndon IV. A senior from Norcross, GA, Herndon IV has stepped his game up as a senior, and this finalist nomination is proof positive of that fact.

New York, N.Y. (October 25, 2017) – The John Mackey Award has named Christopher Herndon IV of Miami as the John Mackey Tight End of the Week. The Atlantic Coast Conference senior had a huge game setting career highs with ten receptions and 96 receiving yards. He also Tied a season game career high with a touchdown catch as Miami defeated Syracuse 27-19.

Herndon IV is having a stellar season for the Canes. He is the team’s 2nd leading receiver with 36 catches for 422 yards, an 11.72 yards per catch average, and 4 touchdowns. Herndon IV is also a solid blocker, and his versatility is a major key to Miami’s offensive success.

Herndon IV is looking to become the 2nd Miami Hurricanes player to win The John Mackey Award. Former Canes TE Kellen Winslow II won the award in 2003.
