They balled out, and got recognized because of it.

NCAA Football: Virginia at Miami Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

On Monday afternoon, Miami Hurricanes S Jaquan Johnson and DE Trent Harris were named as recipient so of weekly superlative awards by the ACC.

Off the heels of a 9 tackle, 1 TFL, 1 Interception, 1 TD game against Virginia, Johnson was named the ACC Defensive Back of the Week. This is the 3rd straight week Johnson has won an individual award.

With 75 tackles, 4 INT, and a TD on the year, Johnson is making a case for not only 1st team all-ACC (which should be a certainty at this point), but 1st team All-America honors.

Joining Johnson with a weekly award was DE Trent Harris. The senior DE was named ACC co-Defensive Lineman of the week after posting 3 tackles, 2.5 TFL, and 2 sacks vs Virginia.

Like Johnson, Harris is having a career-best season in 2017. His 8 sacks this season are more than the 6.5 he had in his first 3 years at Miami combined, and lead the team in that area.

A bit more narrative from Miami Athletics:

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – A pair of Miami Hurricanes were among those recognized with weekly honors from the Atlantic Coast Conference, it was announced Monday.

Junior Jaquan Johnson (ACC Defensive Back of the Week) and senior Trent Harris (ACC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week) were both honored by the conference for standout performances in a 44-28 win over Virginia at Hard Rock Stadium on Nov. 18.

It was the third straight weekly honor for Johnson, who was also named ACC Defensive Back of the Week on Nov. 6 and Nov. 13.

Johnson became the first ACC player honored in three straight weeks since Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson was named ACC Rookie of the Week on Sept. 22, Sept. 29 and Oct. 6 of the 2014 season. No Hurricane had ever earned an ACC weekly honor three straight weeks before Johnson.

Harris joins Johnson, Braxton Berrios (Receiver of the Week, Oct. 9), Darrell Langham (Co-Receiver of the Week, Oct. 16), Michael Badgley (Specialist of the Week, Oct. 16), Christopher Herndon (Receiver of the Week, Oct. 23), Michael Pinckney (Linebacker of the Week, Oct. 23), RJ McIntosh (Defensive Lineman of the Week, Oct. 30), Navaughn Donaldson (Offensive Lineman of the Week, Nov. 13 ) and Zach McCloud (Co-Linebacker of the Week, Nov. 13) as Miami honorees through the first 12 weeks of the season.

Playing in his final home game as a Hurricane, Harris delivered a performance to remember in Miami's win over the Cavaliers. Harris had two sacks, marking his third multi-sack performance of the year.

Harris, who entered the season with 6.5 career sacks, now has a team-best eight sacks in 2017. He finished with 2.5 tackles for loss and three total tackles in the victory.

Johnson earned his third consecutive ACC Defensive Back of the Week as he once again led the charge for the Hurricanes on the defensive side of the ball. Johnson led Miami and tied for the game high with nine total tackles (four solo).

The Miami native added his first career touchdown on an interception that he returned 30 yards to tie the game at 28 in the third quarter. Johnson, who added a solo sack in the victory, was one of just four defensive players named a Walter Camp Player of the Year Award semifinalist last week.

Worthy recognition for a job well done.

Congratulations Jaquan and Trent!!!
