Next up, we're headed to Charlotte for the ACC Championship Game. pic.twitter.com/0fdA2hTTrj
This is the 2nd Canes game that will have the GameDay treatment this year. Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso and the rest of the GameDay crew came to Coral Gables on November 11th ahead of Miami’s 41-8 beatdown of the then-#3 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
This is a good and wise choice for the iconic pre-game show. The SEC network has their own pregame show, so no need to double up on Auburn-Georgia. And, Clemson is likely to be the #1 ranked team in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings, so they have more cache than either of the SEC championship contenders. Oh, and they’re the defending National Champions too, which is kind of a big deal.
Lastly, but very much worth noting: GameDay’s highest rated episode of the season was the week they went to UM’s Coral Gables campus. ESPN is in the business of making money, and getting ratings is a great way to do that. So, the clear choice is to include Miami in the show and reap the benefits of the Canes’ national brand yet again.
For anybody travelling to Charlotte, stop by GameDay! IT’S A PARTY!!!
