“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” - Mike Tyson
I’m always nervous heading into bowl season. Coaching changes, player motivations, injuries - so many variables to consider when making my picks. I spent last week agonizing over whether to write an article for the first five games on December 16th because I didn’t have high conviction. I caved at the last minute and published on Friday night and sure enough, I was rewarded with FIVE straight losses. A winning bowl season is certainly still achievable, but the winning needs to commence ASAP.
I’ve always thought an early signing period would be a great addition to college football. Thankfully, my bowl struggles will likely escape the normal social media scrutiny with all eyes focused on the impressive recruiting class the Canes are securing this week.
Here are the picks for the next nine bowls, starting tonight with FAU and Lane Kiffin. If he’s still the coach of the Owls in 2027, I’ll get his face tattooed on my back. I decided to save you from reading my analysis on these matchups. We’ll get back to dissecting each game once I win a few. If my losing streak continues, I might need to pick games through my own personal LLC in 2018 to maximize efficiency and performance.
Enjoy the holidays and the extra time with your families.
