A top talent from Plantation (FL) American Heritage, Silvera recently received a Miami offer. Silvera had openly stated that he was a Hurricanes fan and wanted to play for Miami, and today’s commitment is proof positive of that.
Once thought to be a program at odds with Miami, Silvera is the latest player from American Heritage to commit to Miami. The connection to Miami and American Heritage is clear: Canes CB coach Mike Rumph was the head coach at Heritage for sevearal years. In this case, Rumph was the lead recruiter for Silvera, who joins 2017 signee OL Kai-Leon Herbert as Heritage players picking Miami. On top of that, several of Silvera’s teammates — players such as 5-star CB Pat Surtain Jr and 3-star WR Anthony Schwartz — hold Miami offers in the class of 2018.
A stoutly built 6’2” 308lbs, Silvera is a very nice player on the interior of the defensive line. He will join a loaded position group at Miami, and is the first DL commit in the class of 2018.
Silvera committed to Miami, his dream school, over 15 other offers, including Florida State, Georgia, and Michigan. You can see the kind of player Silvera is on the field in his HUDL highlights below:
