Miami gets a local player with a good skillset to commit in the 2018 class

Miami (FL) Carol City 4-star RB Camron Davis is the latest player to commit to the Hurricanes

Miami found their RB2 in the 2018 recruiting class today when 4-star RB Camron Davis committed to the Hurricanes.

With the commitment of 5-star RB Lorenzo Lingard, Miami was looking for a 2nd RB in this class, and Davis is really, really good. A standout at local Miami (FL) Carol City, Davis is part of a RB tandem that propelled the Chiefs to Florida’s 6A State Championship in 2016.

Once an Oregon State commit, Davis has a slashing style that is very effective on the field. He’s arguably the best 2018 RB in South Florida (non-James Cook division), and a good get for Miami in general, moreso as RB2 in this class.

This commitment comes just minutes after Miami got a commit from fellow Miami (FL) player Safety Randy Russell, a close friend of Davis’ who the talented RB had openly spoke of playing in college with.

Davis has been productive at the HSFB level for years. After 300+ yards and 4 TDs as a sophomore, Davis had 820 yards and 13 TDs rushing and 94 yards and a TD receiving for Carol City splitting time at RB in 2016. His fellow Carol City RB Nayquan Wright is a 4-star player in the 2019 class, so that’s why his numbers, which are good, aren’t as eye-popping as they otherwise would be.

Davis picked Miami over 16 other offers, including Oregon (his stated childhood favorite school), Oregon State (where he was once committed), Michigan State, and Wisconsin, Georgia.

You can see what kind of player Miami is getting in Davis in the HUDL highlights below:
