On Friday afternoon, the Miami Hurricanes announced that rising-senior DT Courtel Jenkins had been dismissed from the team. The dismissal is for “violation of team rules”.
Here is the press release from UM Athletics on the situation:
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami announced Friday that defensive lineman Courtel Jenkins has been dismissed from the football program for a violation of team rules.
Jenkins, a native of Jersey City, N.J., played three seasons for the Hurricanes, posting 54 career tackles and 2.5 sacks.
Obviously, losing a player of Jenkins’ ability — he came on to play his best football in his UM career in the last 4 games of the 2016 season — will not be easy. But, with returning DTs RJ McIntosh, Kendrick Norton, Gerald Willis III and Anthony Moten, and RS Tyreic Martin, and 2017 signee Jonathan Ford, Miami has the depth and talent to absorb this loss from their roster.
More on this in the coming days.
