The Miami Hurricanes Men’s Basketball team has had its share of excitement, disappointment, and jubilation. Only seven games remain to make a statement on selection Sunday.

As we wrote about in our Tale of Two CanesHoops piece last month this Canes basketball team has had an identity crisis. Despite their up and down season, the Canes are 16-7 on the season and are still very much in contention to land an at-large NCAA tournament bid once March rolls around. BUT in order to get there, Miami will need as much help as it can get, as it likely needs to win at least 3 of its last 7 games and finish at .500 in ACC Play. UM is currently at 6-5 in the ACC and in 8th place with an RPI of 51 and a KenPom.com rating of 40. ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has Miami as an 11 seed in his Bracketology while CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm has them in the last 4 in. There has been speculation that the ACC could land 10 teams in the big dance.

With 3 home games left (Georgia Tech on Wednesday the 15th, Clemson on the 18th and Duke on the 25th) the Canes will need each game to be packed with loud fans to help the team win. All three are RPI top 100 teams, Georgia Tech (77), Clemson (53), Duke (18) and wins against all of these teams would help improve Miami’s resume with the selection committee. Taking care of business at home is critical and would make stealing a win or two on the road a bit easier.

Author’s Note: If you can’t make it to any of these games and need help finding Canes who will use your tickets send me a message on Twitter @Strauzer or the folks at Hardwood Hurricanes @HardwoodU, we will be happy to assist.
