Recap:
Game 1: Miami 10 - Georgia Tech 8
Carl Chester led the way as the Canes get their first ACC win of the year. Chester went 4-4, had two doubles, two RBIs and scored three times. Davison, Ruiz, Gonzales, Burns, Barr, and Michelangeli all had hits to help lift the Canes over the Jackets. Luckily the bats were hot because the Cane’s pithing gave up eight runs on twelve hits. Defensively, the Canes were decent only having one error. Frankie Bartow got his third save of the year even though he did give up an earned run in the 9th. Overall, this was a solid win with the bats heating up like they did. This is how every game should be played offensively.
Pros: Carl Chester (Went 4-4, 2 Doubles, 2 RBIs, 3 Runs)
Cons: Pitching (Gave up 8 Runs on 12 Hits)
Honorable Mention: Defense (Only had 1 Error)

Game 2: Georgia Tech 7 - Canes 5 (Extra Innings)
Game two was a dog fight for both squads. Fans at the Light got to see some free baseball as the game went to eleven innings. The Canes started out great and looked like they had a sizable lead until the dreaded 7th inning happened and GT scored four runs to take the lead. The Canes scored one run in the eighth inning to tie it up but couldn’t score again and Tech’s two runs in the 11th secured their win. The bats were hot during the game and the Canes scored five runs on twelve hits. Defensively, the Canes were atrocious committing three errors. That cannot happen if you want to win more games. Overall, the bats looked great but we need to clean up the errors and long defensive innings.
Pros: Offsense (Five runs on twelve hits)
Cons: Defense (3 erros) Pitching (Gave up 7 runs (4 in one inning))
Honorable Mention: Chester, Burns and Gomez all had multi-hit games

Game 3: Canes 17 - Georgia Tech 7
The Canes came to play on Sunday afternoon scoring SEVENTEEN runs on fifteen hits. These are the kind of bats the Canes need to bring to every game if they want to make an ACC championship run this year. Carl Chester had his second 4-4 game of the series and four other players had a multi-hit game. Even tho Mediavilla did give up four earned runs, he was able to get his first win of the year. I am hoping this is the confidence booster he needed to get some needed game 3 wins this year. Defensively, the Canes had another rough game committing two errors. Overall, this was a great confidence booster for the Canes lineup and they start ACC play. Hopefully this caries over into the next series.
Pros: Offense ( 17 runs of 15 hits)
Cons: Pitching (Gave up 7 runs) Defense (2 Errors)
Honorable Mention: Jim Morris (Getting the lineup right)

Conclusion:
This was a great series win for the Canes. I know its early, but this is a good sign that their season might be heading in the right direction. Winning your first ACC series is always a great confidence booster. Offensively we just need to keep this going. We scored a ton of runs this weekend and need to keep that up. Defensively, the canes committed a total of 6 errors this weekend which is not good. The offense picked up the slack but its hard to do that every game. Our pitchers gave up way too many runs this weekend so Arteaga needs to get with them about working on their command. I know I’m a little knit-picky sometimes but either way its good to get a series win!!!
