Miami lost game one of a 3-game series vs the North Carolina State Wolfpack 5-3 on Friday night.

NC State struck first in the bottom of the second, when the lead off man reached on a single, and then moved to second on a wild pitch. A groundout then moved the runner to third, and NC State scored their first run when the runner came home after yet another wild pitch from Jesse Lepore.

In the top of the third UM put together a response. Chris Barr reached on an error, and then a bunt put down by James Davison gave Miami two runners. A nice sac-bunt by Johnny Ruiz put both men in scoring position, and then Carl Chester hit a nice sac-fly to score Barr from third, tying the game at 1-1. Unfortunately Miami couldn’t get another run in the inning.

The Wolfpack took the lead in the bottom of the sixth. A lead off double started the inning for The Pack. A groundout then pushed the runner to second, and in the next at-bat a RBI single gave NC State a 2-1 lead, after that another single gave NC State a 3-1 lead at the end of the inning.

In the top of the eighth the Hurricanes tied the game after two solo-homeruns from Johnny Ruiz and Romy Gonzalez, can we have more of this please?

NC State would quickly regain the lead with a two-run bottom of the eighth. A walk and a single gave the Wolfpack two men on with one out, and a wild pitch advanced both the runners into scoring position. After an intentional walk to give the Hurricanes a force out at any base, a two RBI double was hit to give NC State a 5-3 lead.

In the top of the ninth the Hurricanes went quietly, and NC State took the game 5-3.
