Game Time: 12:00 Noon |
Location: Barclay’s Center | Brooklyn, New York
Broadcast: ESPN, WQAM560 | Stream: WatchESPN
Last Meeting: Miami won 77-62
Two things are sure about today’s rematch with nationally ranked No. 6 UNC (26-6, 14-4 ACC) , it’s not going to be nearly as easy as the last one ... But, if we beat them once, we can beat them again.
The Tar Heals are the top-ranked team in the country’s top conference tournament (Don’t try arguing otherwise) and anything less than a finals appearance for Roy Williams’ team would be a disappointment.
That said, we know the Hurricanes’ can run with the Tar Heals on both ends of the court, evidenced by their 77-62 shellacking weeks ago. The ACC Tournament is an entirely different monster, of course, and the neutral floor of the Barclay’s isn’t as homey as the good ole’ Wat.
Good things need to happen for the ‘Canes to end up on top, which includes Kamari Murphy double-doubles, Ja’Quan Newton dishing-and-swishing (and generally not turning the ball over helps) and Davon Reed doing the things we all expect him to do on his way out the door.
It’s going to be a good one. I’ll be watching from class. Thoma’s got your postgame reaction.
