Recruiting Radar: TE targets for Storm18

Miami looks to add talent at a key position in the 2018 recruiting class. These are the names to know.

There is a debate I have with myself quite often these days. I go back and forth with if I want 5 Wr’s and 1 TE in Storm18 or 4 WR’s and 2 TE’s. After months of back and forth with a Santana Moss on one shoulder and a Jeremy Shockey on the other, Shockey has won. Losing David Njoku has left us with little depth at the Tight End position. Christopher Herndon IV, our swiss army knife, will fill the gap this season very well in my opinion but he leaves after this year and then we will get into some uncharted territory with very little depth and experience at the position. Jovani Haskins and Michael Irvin Jr. have yet to catch a ball in a college game and with them we signed Brian Polendey out of Texas in the 2017 class.

Let’s look at some targets..

Brevin Jordan — The 6-3 260 lb TE out of Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV) is on campus now and Miami is in a really good spot for him. He seems to be their top target at the position and the feeling seems mutual. Some think he will end up as a package deal with the Bishop Gorman quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Jordan has said that they are close but he will do what is best for him in the long run. I thought we had a great shot at Brevin Jordan before he stepped on campus and now that he has been and plans to come back I think we are in driver seat. Other schools to watch out for are UCLA and Michigan.

Will Mallory — The 6-5 TE out of Jacksonville Providence (FL) is another target for the Canes. Miami is already starting behind the 8-ball because Mallory is a Michigan legacy kid. He has continued to keep Miami and UGA in the conversation. Mallory was on Miami’s campus in late February. Keep an eye on his visits.. After this week though as he is expected to be at Michigan’s spring game with Brevin Jordan.

Bralen Taylor — The 6-7 TE out of Texas also holds a Miami offer.

Ben Bresnahan from Cummings, Ga. was also on campus last week. He does not have an offer yet but he is someone to pay attention to.

The first 2 mentioned in the article are our top targets and the ones that you want to pay the closest attention to. It did not hurt our chances that when Brevin Jordan came onto the Greentree practice field yesterday that future first round pick David Njoku was there.

Have I convinced you on the 4 Wr and 2 TE class? Let me know..
