Miami continued to build on to their already top-ranked 2018 recruiting class on Friday evening when 4-star TE Will Mallory committed to the Canes.
Can you believe it! Tight End U was very hot!! Now it has flat out caught on fire! Call the fire department!! U Family!— Mark Richt (@MarkRicht) April 22, 2017
Hailing from Jacksonville (FL) Providence HS, Mallory is a 6’5” 207lb TE with room to grow into his lengthy frame. A Michigan legacy — Mallory’s father Mike and uncle both played for the Wolverines — Mallory has decided to take his talents to Coral Gables instead of Ann Arbor.
This is yet another big recruiting win for TE coach Todd Hartley. Just days after getting fellow 4-star TE Brevin Jordan to commit, Hartley now has his top 2 targets in this class committed to Miami. That’s a good place to be, you guys.
As far as what kind of player Mallory is and can develop into, that’s pretty good as well.
In HS, Mallory plays a hybrid WR/TE role. That’s largely due to his above average speed and thin build (only 207lbs at current). For his college career, he projects to add weight and develop into a TE who can play both in-line and flexed into the slot or outside in the redzone.
As previously noted, Mallory joins 4-star Brevin Jordan as TE commits in the 2018 recruiting class. Mallory committed to Miami over Michigan and Georgia among his 29 scholarship offers. Mallory is the 17th overall commit to the 2018 recruiting class.
