Miami Hurricanes Football: OT Sunny Odogwu leaving program

OL depth takes a bit of a hit here

On Monday afternoon, the University of Miami announced that OL Sunny Odgowu is leaving the Canes Football Program. Here is the full release on Odogwu’s departure from UM Athletics:

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami announced Monday that offensive lineman Sunny Odogwu has decided to leave the football program.

“Sunny and I had a good conversation, and he informed me that he feels his best opportunity to get the most playing time would be at another school,” head coach Mark Richt said. “Sunny has been a great teammate and leader for this program, and we will miss him.”

Odogwu, a redshirt senior, started 14 games at right tackle over three seasons. He has earned his bachelor’s degree in human resources management, and is working towards a master’s degree in international administration.

“I have enjoyed my four years at the University of Miami,” Odogwu said. “I look forward to continuing my playing career elsewhere, but I will always cherish the relationships I’ve built with my teammates, coaches and professors here at The U.”

Obviously looking for more playing time, the 6’8” 320lb Odogwu should have a number of suitors as he looks to find his next destination.

We wish Sunny Odogwu the best in his future endeavors. All the best, kid.
