If you’ve been reading the Class Breakdown (which, I mean, you have), Baxa is a name you know. Rated the #5 K in America by industry-experts Kohl’s Kicking, Baxa has the talent and skills to be a very good Kicker at Miami. Here’s the full breakdown on Baxa from Kohl’s:
Baxa recently competed at the 2017 Underclassman Challenge. He had a solid camp and displayed some of the athletic ability that has helped him become one of the nations best kickers. He finished the weekend on a high note by making the finals on Kickoffs and Field Goals. Increasing his extension on his arms during his drop should help improve his punting ability as well. He is one of the best athletes in the 2018 class and with some small tweaks in his ball contact and finish through the ball, he can challenge for the top kicker ranking in the country.
Not only does Baxa have the potential to be the top kicker in the 2018 recruiting class — he was 1st team All-District as a punter, hit 5 of 8 FGs and 26 XPs in 2016 — he’s a standout baseball player for Memorial. As the team’s starting 3B, Baxa earned 1st team All-District honors in a loaded District. Plus athleticism from your kicker? Sign me up.
For Miami, this is a big commitment. With 4 year K Michael Badgley leaving after the 2017 season, getting a commitment from Baxa fills a big void, and gives the Canes another top talent at a key position.
Baxa joins Miami’s already top-ranked 2018 recruiting class, and is the first — and likely only — specialist in the group. Overall, he is the 18th commit for this cycle.
Enough talk, though. Let’s watch Baxa kicking footballs, shall we?
Yeah. That’ll work.
