Well guys, we’re creeping along to the beginning of the 2017-2018 football season. Today there are exactly 63 days left until Miami takes on Bethune-Cookman at home. There is no player on the current roster who dons the “63” jersey so we’ll look back at the most recent player to wear the offensive lineman designated number, Daniel Isidora.
Isidora was a local product out of Cypress Bay High School and was rated a consensus four star recruit. Entering his senior season he had numerous scholarships, his top three (besides Miami) were Wisconsin and Florida State. Even in high school, the recruiting services knew he would be a great offensive guard and labeled him as much (many time great offensive linemen are penciled in as tackles because of their capabilities in the high school circuit).
After Isidora redshirted his first year on campus he became a mainstay as a starter along the offensive line. In total, in four years, Isidora started 39 games at right guard for the Canes. In his final season Isidora was recognized as a second team All ACC Lineman by both the ACC Coaching Staffs and the ACC Media.
Due to his vast experience as a starter the last three plus seasons Isidora decided to take his talents to the pro ranks. In last April’s NFL draft Isidora was selected in the fifth round, pick 180 by the Minnesota Vikings. Isidora has a solid shot of landing on the roster of the Purple People Eaters as last season it was widely known by most teams across the league that due to overall talent and roster attrition (i.e injuries) the Vikings had one of the worst pass blocking and run blocking units in all the NFL.
