Continuing the cavalcade of watchlist announcements, RB Mark Walton was named to the Maxwell Award watchlist for 2017.

More on this from UM Athletics:

Walton shined in his first season as the Hurricanes' starting running back in 2016. The Miami native finished with 1,117 rushing yards and totaled 14 rushing touchdowns. His 1,117 yards were the seventh-most in a single season in Miami history.

In two seasons with the Hurricanes, Walton has compiled over 2,000 all-purpose yards and 25 total touchdowns in just 26 career games.

As has been detailed by Matt Porter of The Palm Beach Post, with another strong season, Walton could end the 2017 season as Miami’s All-Time TD leader.

Mark Walton is a star at RB. He’s one of the best players that National CFB fans don’t know about. But, with Miami (hopefully) having a strong 2017 season and Walton ascending to the top of the TD list in Canes history, that should change in the next few months.
