On Wednesday morning, the ACC announced the pre-season All-ACC teams as voted on by the media.
For this season, the Miami Hurricanes had 4 players voted preseason 1st team all ACC.
RB Mark Walton
WR Ahmmon Richards
LB Shaquille Quarterman
K Michael Badgley
Each of these players has been nominated for at least 1 national award over the course of the last week, so this just adds to their deserved preseason recognition.
Others who received votes but were not named to 1st team:
TE Christopher Herndon IV. He was 2nd in voting behind Wake Forest TE Cam Serigne.
OL Kc McDermott was 4th in votes at Guard. He has worked at LT for the Canes through the spring.
DEs Chad Thomas and Joe Jackson received 6 and 5 votes, respectively.
DTs RJ McIntosh and Kendrick Norton received 11 and 9 votes, respectively.
LBs Michael Pinckney and Zach McCloud each received 4 votes.
S Jaquan Johnson received 4 votes.
WR Braxton Berrios received 13 votes as return specialist.
Outside of the 1st team guys and Herndon IV/McDermott, the media largely had a moderate to low value of the individual players on the Canes’ 2017 team. This is interesting, since Miami was overwhelmingly selected to be the Coastal Division favorites.
In any event, congratulations to Walton, Richards, Quarterman and Badgley on their 1st team honors, and also to all those who received votes.
Man, the season needs to get here already.
