For the TL;DR crowd, here are the matchups for the Canes
Home and Home: FSU, Virginia Tech, Pitt, Boston College
Home only: Duke, Wake Forest, Virginia, Louisville, Syracuse
Away only: North Carolina, Clemson, Georgia Tech, NC State, Notre Dame
The home and home group is fine. FSU twice is standard for the schedule, VT has been a thorn in our basketball side recently, and Pitt/BC should be 4 wins because both teams are bad.
The home slate is strong. Duke and Louisville are perennial powerhouses, Wake Forest blew Miami out last year on the road so revenge, Syracuse is a name-brand and tough to play, and Virginia is THE WORST but they’re a conference team so we have to play them.
The away slate will be where Miami needs to get a signature win. Trips to North Carolina and Notre Dame headline the list, but the ACC is the best conference in college basketball, so any and every win on the road is precious. Getting W’s at Clemson, Georgia Tech, and NC State + 1 of UNC/ND (and a couple from the home and home group, as well) will be needed to contend for the ACC regular season championship.
Add this on top of Miami’s previously-announced Non-Conference schedule, and you have a very solid slate of teams that the Canes will face in the 2017-18 season.
Now that the schedule is known, we await the schedule of ACC conference games, an announcement which is still forthcoming.
