On Monday afternoon, the Miami Hurricanes announced a non-conference game against the Central Michigan Chippewas in 2019. Here’s the release from UM Athletics:
CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- The University of Miami football program announced Monday that it will host Central Michigan University in a nonconference game at Hard Rock Stadium on September 21, 2019.
The matchup marks the first-ever contest between the two schools. Miami is 5-0 all-time against schools from the Mid-American Conference.
Miami will open the 2019 season against the University of Florida in Orlando. Additional nonconference games for the 2019 season will be announced at a later date.
The Hurricanes also have future out-of-conference games scheduled with LSU in Arlington, Texas (2018), Michigan State (2020 and 2021) and Texas A&M (2022 and 2023).
As stated in the press release, Central Michigan joins Florida on the non-conference schedule in 2019. Miami has 2 other non-conference games to add in 2019, but starting with a P5 team (UF) and a Go5 team (CMU) is a solid start.
For me, this is pretty cool. I’m a Michigander who is transplanted to South Florida, so getting a taste of home when Miami blows CMU out in the 2019 season will be a welcomed trip down memory lane.
More on the Canes’ future schedules as it becomes available.
