#Storm18's top commit Lorenzo Lingard
Orlando Sentinel

It's that time again Canes fans! College. Football. Is. BACK! Tomorrow, Colorado State and Oregon State kick off the season at 2:30 p.m. ET. Sadly, though, Miami is still another week away from the start of their season opener against Bethune Cookman. Even though Miami isn't playing just yet, the recruiting train starts it's engine for another season. After a week of preseason games and scrimmages, for the most part, high school football is back. As week 1 approaches, we'll highlight some of our committed recruits and their upcoming games.

Lorenzo Lingard

On Thursday night, Lingard opened his season with 25 carries, 82 yards, and two touchdowns in Orange City University's 24-21 loss to a respectable Orlando Dr. Phillips. Lingard commented and appeared to be slightly frustrated by the fact every team is going to stack the box against University this year, but that's what happens when you're a 5-star running back.

Brevin Jordan

Tonight on ESPN (9 p.m. ET), Jordan and No. 4 ranked Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV) will have an early season test again No. 6 Dematha (Hyattsville, MD). Look for Jordan to get peppered with targets tonight by his QB and UCLA Commit Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Camron Davis

On Friday night, Camron Davis and Miami Carol City will face Deerfield Beach High. Carol City looked to have frustrated IMG and the offense in last week's preseason game, and although they lost have to be proud of themselves. They face a much easier opponent in Deerfield Beach, but they are definitely not a push over. What makes this game interesting is a week or two ago, Deerfield Beach Linebacker Rosendo Louis disrespected Miami when announcing his commitment to Florida State, faking to put the hat on, then throwing it away.

Artur Sitkowski & Brian Hightower

On Saturday, Sitkowski and Hightower of No. 2 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) will face No. 7 Chandler (Ariz.). Sitkowski and Hightower are two essential weapons for IMG's offense, and after struggling early in last week's preseason opener, Sitkowski will have a huge responsibility and pressure to right the ship.

Mark Pope & Daquris Wiggins

On Saturday night, the star studded combo of receivers will face 5A State Contender Cardinal Gibbons. Pope and Wiggins will have their hands full with a solid secondary that includes Vanderbilt commit Maxwell Worship, but let's not forget that Pope and Wiggins carried Southridge to a 5A State Championship and are expected to do the same this season.

GAME OF THE WEEK: Al Blades Jr.

Even though Brevin Jordan and the two IMG commits play in nationally ranked games this week, the game of the week has to be when No. 3 St. John Bosco visits No. 5 St. Thomas Aquinas. Blades has a large role in the secondary this week, and you'll be able to see him in action on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

We’ll have a full recap from all the games played by Canes commits on Monday.
