Miami Hurricanes Football: depth chart for season opener released

No Michigan-like shenanigans here

On Monday afternoon, a new Depth Chart for the Miami Hurricanes surfaced on twitter. I believe Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald was the first to put this out there.

In any event, here it is:

Some thoughts:

  • Only 2 QBs listed, but I’m still personally hopeful we see N’Kosi Perry
  • Walton at RB1 is a no brainer
  • Richards and Cager being “or” starters is only bc Richards has a hamstring. I think both would start if healthy.
  • One time for Mike Harley starting at the Z. That kid is fast.
  • Good on Michael Irvin II for finally stepping up into the TE2 role. Hopefully he’s more than just the best of 2 bad options to backup Christopher Herndon IV
  • #1 OL is as it has been since spring: McDermott, Darling, Gauthier, Donaldson, and St. Louis
  • #1 DL is going to dominate: Thomas, Norton, McIntosh, and J. Jackson
  • #2 DL could start at many P5 schools: Harris, Moten, Bethel, and D. Jackson
  • Mike Smith starting for Mike Pinckney, who is suspended for 1H of the Bethune game due to that terrible targeting call in the bowl game, and who had battled a bit of a hamstring early in camp.
  • Starting secondary of Delaney, Jaquan Johnson, Redwine, and Michael Jackson. Jackson starting is the shock, but if he’s developed, that would be a big bonus for this season.
  • Zach Feagles starting punter. Carrying on the family legacy (his father Jeff punted at Miami before a 23 year NFL career).
  • Berrios still on PR. He’s good, smart, and consistent, but I can’t help but dream about Jeff Thomas in that role (even if it’s only sparingly this season)
  • KR is basically wide open.

Those are my thoughts. Share yours in the comments below.
