On Thursday morning, the preseason Amway Coaches Poll was released. In this poll, the Miami Hurricanes are ranked 18th in the country.
Here’s more on this from UM Athletics:
CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- The Miami Hurricanes checked in at No. 18 in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll released Thursday.
The Hurricanes ended the 2016 season with a 9-4 record and a 31-14 victory over West Virginia in the Russell Athletic Bowl. In the final Amway Coaches Poll of 2016, Miami was ranked No. 23.
Miami was picked to win the ACC's Coastal Division in a poll of media at the 2017 ACC Football Kickoff in Charlotte, N.C., in late July.
Eight Hurricanes have picked up accolades this preseason: senior kicker Michael Badgley (Groza Award), senior wide receiver / punt returner Braxton Berrios (Hornung Award), senior tight end Christopher Herndon IV (Mackey Award), junior defensive lineman Kendrick Norton (Bednarik Award, Nagurski Award, Outland Trophy), sophomore linebacker Shaquille Quarterman (Bednarik, Butkus Award, Nagurski), sophomore wide receiver Ahmmon Richards (Biletnikoff Award), senior defensive lineman Chad Thomas (Nagurski) and junior running back Mark Walton (Maxwell Award, Doak Walker Award, Walter Camp Player of the Year Award).
This is fitting for a team coming off a 9-4 season, a dominant bowl victory over a previously 13th ranked West Virginia team, who was already voted the prohibitive favorites in the ACC’s Coastal Division.
Rankings and lists are fine, but nothing matters unless you win games.
So let’s get on the grind and get about the business of winning.
